A pen either holds up to daily use or it doesn't, and you can usually tell within the first few weeks. Ours are designed for the years after that.
Each barrel is precision-turned from solid brass, then finished in high-gloss lacquer or ion-plated metal — a process built to bond with the brass rather than sit on top of it, so the finish doesn't thin out with use. The nib comes from the German-based manufacturer used in far more expensive writing instruments. None of it is there only to make the first impression. It's there to work reliably, and look right, five years in.

Most pens, even from renowned luxury brands, at this price are made of plastic or resin. At Scriveiner, we did the opposite: real brass is beneath the finish. A substantial weight and a perfectly balanced base for effortless writing. Today, next year and many years in.
Most cheap "gold" or "gunmetal" pens use electroplating so thin it's closer to a wash than a coating — a few microns of metal sprayed over brass or zinc, which is why the shine tends to rub off at the clip and cap threads within months.
Ours goes through ion-plating, a process that bonds the metal to the brass at a molecular level rather than just laying it on top. It's the same category of finish used on watch cases and surgical instruments, chosen specifically because it holds up to the friction of daily handling, not just a shelf. Our high-gloss lacquer finishes go through multiple coats and curing passes for the same reason — resistance to scuffing, not just a nice photo on day one.
If either finish does fail early, the 2-year guarantee covers it. But the goal was never to lean on the guarantee. It was to build a pen that doesn't need it.
Our Classic range runs 30–35g, which sits deliberately in the range where a pen feels substantial without turning into dead weight over a long writing session. We landed on that number the hard way — early prototypes that were heavier felt impressive for the first minute and tiring by the twentieth.
Weight distribution mattered as much as total weight. A pen top-heavy toward the cap fatigues your hand many times more than one balanced toward the grip section, so we adjusted the internal components, not just the shell, to get the balance point close to where your fingers actually sit when you write.
Every pen ships with a spare refill in the box, so you're covered from day one. Beyond that, refills are available directly on our site, and our writing systems are built around international-standard sizes — so if you ever run out or want to switch ink, you're not limited to ordering from us specifically.
